Do you want a cute straw fedora hat for summer but you don't want to break the bank? I love wearing my hats when I am lounging by the pool or when I am out running errands. When I started looking this season for some new hats, I couldn't help but look at those price tags and cringe. Don't get me wrong, exceptionally made hats deserve that price tag, however if you are like me and like to stick to a budget... but still look stylish , then you will LOVE this more affordable option. Add a little sparkle to that basic hat and it will end up looking elegant and super trendy. Here are a few quick tips on how dress up that basic fedora hat.
What you will need:
#1. Straw hat of your choice. I found mine at my neighborhood Target for $7.99. Here is a link if you like this one. Women's Fedora - A New Day™ Tan- $7.99 You can also purchase at Walmart or H & M if you prefer to shop at one of those places instead. Typically you can find a decent straw hat at one of these stores between $7.99 - $14.99.
#2. Glue- I would suggest either HOT Glue or E6000 Glue.
#3. Items to embellish your hat. (Flowers, Rhinestones, Patches, Pins, Buttons, Feather, the possibilities are endless) Visit you local craft store. I went to Michaels, Joann's and Hobby Lobby. P.S.- Don't forget those coupons to save a little on your purchases. You can either glue directly on your hat or you can add these embellishments to an alligator clip (shown below) and make them interchangeable.
#4. Alligator Clips - These can be purchased at any craft store. One amazing option is that you can glue an alligator clip to all of these items and then you can switch them out based on your mood or occasion.
The hat that I chose has a little sleeve, which a lot of hats tend to have if they have a band around them.
Here ya have it....some beautiful fedora hat inspiration. No matter what you decide to add to your fedora it will make it unique and personalized. The compliments will be endless. Happy creating.
